Ranges from $20/hr to $24/hr JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology Medical laboratory experience, or a healthcare background, or work in a hospital environment Types accurately at least 40 WPM Trained in computer use or management of KEY
Responsibilities:
Make daily rounds, dropping off reports and specimen pickups in Endoscopy Suite and Operating Room Accession cases, log in specimens, set up tissue, label cassettes and containers Cytology fresh tissue processing:
fixation, cytospin and cell block Assist in preparing smears in Radiology suite and stain slides during fine needle aspiration (FNA) and CT-guided biopsy procedures Count cassettes, prepare for transport, tally and maintain lab statistics Print daily logs for various departments Clean grossing area, instruments and cryostat.
Takes inventory, notes and discards expired supplies and restocks received supplies.
Maintain morgue:
temperature charts, blocks, slides, specimen retention in respective cabinets and disposal Assist with filing of slides and paperwork Answer phones and report reading Ensures confidentiality of medical records is maintained and release of medical information as appropriate Assists other staff in providing information, correction and answering questions regarding work performed by department Performs other related duties as assigned Maintain HIPAA Privacy Level 3 PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
Good organizational skills Good communication skills Must work well and communicate well with others Ability to set priorities Able to work under pressure Frequently required to sit and stand for long periods (>1 hour) Frequently required to hear and speak in person and on the phone Frequently required to make decisions Frequently required to concentrate Frequently required to look at computer monitor Periodically required to perform multitasking Job Type:
